Kandy Police has decided to act strictly on big match revelers who break common road rules and cause nuisance to the public. Senior Superintendant of Police, Gamini Ellapola has directed top Police officers in Kandy to take stern action against students and those who parade around the city of Kandy in a manner causing trouble to the road users and the public.

Incidents were reported when a group of students of certain top school in Kandy were charged by the Police for driving recklessly on public roads. Around 50 students were apprehended and later released by the Kandy Police for that offence on Thursday.

Police sources said that a group of past students and supporters of school cricket teams also have been taken into custody for reckless driving. The offenders will be charged before Courts. Luxury buses which were also part of the riotous crowd of students were taken into custody and later released.
