SriLankan to bring home passengers stranded in Frankfurt

SriLankan Airlines has made arrangements to fly to Colombo some 240 passengers stranded at Frankfurt airport in Germany, due to trade union action, the airline said in a press release. It said SriLankan Airlines and all other airlines operating from terminal two of Frankfurt Airport were compelled to depart without passengers, due to trade union action by security staff at the airport. The strike ended yesterday.

The London-Colombo flight will today travel via Frankfurt to take on the passengers stranded there since Friday. The passengers were given accommodation in nearby hotels. The flight will depart London at 15.15 hrs and arrive in Frankfurt at 17.40 hrs local time, and depart Frankfurt at 18.50 hrs local time. The flight will arrive in Colombo on Monday (24) at 09.15 hrs. Further, Colombo-Frankfurt flight UL557/8 operating departed Colombo on Saturday, February 22, as scheduled, and the return flight will not be affected.
