Unforgettable season for the Antonian Choir

View(s):

The season started with
‘Winter Melodies’ at Temple Trees on December 6, 2013. It was a great experience for us to be at Temple Trees. Next, the Sri Lanka Army had organized a carol service at Vavuniya.

We started our tour on
December 15. Our Choral Director, Rev. Fr. Araliya Jayasundara along with two teachers and the choristers
proceeded to Mannar. On our way we visited Madhu church and spent the night at Vavuniya. On the
following day, 16th morning we had a practice session.

In the evening we performed in front of our war heroes who saved our motherland from terrorism. A dinner was organized by Major General Boniface Perera, the Commanding Officer of Vavuniya.
On the 17th morning we thanked the army officers for the wonderful experience and left to Kandy.
On our way, we visited a camp named ‘Frog Kingdom’ in Anuradhapura. We returned home around 8 p.m.
On 18th evening Central Province Army Brigade Commander had organized an event in Kandy Cathedral. The army band, army choir, church choir and Hillwood choir performed with us.

The final event was organized by the Antonian Alumni (ADLER)
choral on December 21st at the Kandy Cathedral. Rt. Rev.
Dr. Vianney Fernando, the Bishop of Kandy was our chief guest.
ADLER were the champions at the All-Island Western Music Competition in 2006. The present choir sang along with them. It was a new experience for us. As a young chorister it was a memorable and unforgettable season for me.
