Moors SC left-arm spinner Malinda Pushpakumara continued his successful bowling run with a match bag of ten wickets helping his side crush Badureliya SC by an innings and 65 runs with a day to spare in the second round match of the Premier league cricket tournament concluded at Braybrooke Place yesterday.

In the first innings Malinda wrecked the opponents batting with a four wicket haul as he along with Dilhara Lokuhettige and Isuru Samarasooriya combined to bowl the visitors, resuming on their overnight score of 48 for 2, out for just 149.

The opening day’s play saw Moors SC skipper Janaka Gunaratne winning the toss and electing to take first lease of the wicket. He steered his side with a fine knock of 147 which was supported by half tons from Dilhara Lokuhettige and Suresh Niroshan to make a massive score of 420 for 9 declared.

Angelo Perera slammed a swashbuckling career best knock of 244 in just 204 balls, inclusive of 30 boundaries and half a dozen sixes. Angelo along with Jehan Mubarak, who cracked a 164 with 14 boundaries and two sixes, put on a record fourth wicket partnership of 405 runs for NCC against Air Force on day two in the match played at the NCC ground.

Gayashan Weerasekera too hit a career best knock of 217 which included 36 boundaries as Sri Lanka Ports Authority CC against Panadura SC in the match played at Panadura. Panadura SC in their turn was bowled out for 180.

The highlight of the Ragama CC’s innings was a knock of 142 by Ian Daniel which had 19 boundaries and a six.

Army SC have already obtained a first inning lead over CCC when play stopped for lunch on the second day in the match played at the CCC ground.

SSC thanks to an unbeaten knock of 117 by Vishwa Wijeratne too have obtained a first inning lead over Chilaw Marians in the match played at the SSC ground.
