Speaker gets special media consultant
View(s):Cabinet has decided to make an exception in the appointment of a media consultant to the Speaker of Parliament since such a post cannot come under the approved cadre of Government service. The ministers have decided to place the post in line with that of a Consultant to a minister so that it will not require the recommendations of the National Salaries and Cadre Commission to determine allowances.
Thus, the Speaker’s media consultant will receive Rs. 30,000 a month, the sum paid to those who are consultants of ministers. In addition a monthly transport allowance of Rs. 30,000 is also to be paid besides a fuel allowance and telephone facilities. The exception has been made only until the duration of the incumbent Speaker of Parliament on a “temporary basis,” in terms of the decision.
