Rs. 4 million worth electronic items recovered

Electronic equipment valued at over Rs. four million, stolen from leading electronic retail outlets country-wide, were recovered by Alawatugoda police recently.
Three suspects were taken into custody and were produced before the Acting Kandy Magistrate Mahinda Liyanage, who remanded them until December 27.
Earlier as police were unable to make a breakthrough into the case, the suspects were able to evade being arrested over the months.

The main suspect was subsequently arrested at Madawala and two other suspects were arrested at Akurana. The Investigation and arrests were made by Inspector Nishan Hettiarachchi OIC of Alawatugoda Police and a team of officers. Among the items recovered were thirty-three laptops, digital cameras, and other electronic equipment. (LB)
