Nawaz Rajabdeen, veteran businessman, industrialist and chamber leader has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Industrial Development Board of Sri Lanka by President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

IDB is a key organisation under the Ministry of Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development. Mr. Rajabdeen will add weight to pro-business and pro-industry type of policies and strategies to be executed in the overall industrial development eforts in Sri Lanka
He is the National Director for United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) – national focal point in Sri Lanka and is a Board Director of Export Development Board. Mr. Rajabdeen is also former President of FCCISL, Sri Lanka, Vice President of SAARC Chamber of Commerce, Director Insurance Board of Sri Lanka, Director Sri Lanka Standards Institute and Chairman Hotel Developers PLC, owning company of the Colombo Hilton, according to an IDB media release.
