Casino mogul Packer to invest in another Sri Lankan project
View(s):Australian Casino mogul and billionaire businessman James Packer, is in town once again, to discuss the arrangements to kick start his US$ 350 million mixed development project including a Casino, Sri Lanka’s single largest gaming venture along with a resort on the land assigned for it on D.R. Wijewardena Mawatha, in Fort Colombo, official sources said.
Mr. Packer met with Investment Promotion Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena and Treasury Secretary Dr. P.B. Jayasundera on Thursday and held discussions on the project, a senior government official revealed. When contacted over the phone, Minister Abeywardena confirmed that Packer called on him to discuss the implementation of the project.
He disclosed that Mr. Packer has also expressed his desire to make another huge investment in an integrated resort project apart from the Wijewardena Mawatha project.
