The International Rugby Board (IRB) on Saturday stated that it would undertake the process of increasing Anti-Doping awareness across all affiliated Unions and Regional Associations. As an initiative the IRB has developed an e-learning programme highlighting the dangers and consequences of doping, strict liability, related important topics and the list of prohibited substances by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
The current Anti-Doping Education resources are available on www.keeprugbyclean.com, a website run by the IRB to interact with its member Unions, Regional Associations and players of all age groups.
“The e-learning programme is linked to the IRB Passport and it is not just for players but also for parents and player’s support personnel. It is the responsibility of Unions to provide Anti-Doping Education to their Rugby community and it is encouraged that all Unions to promote the e-learning programme within the Rugby community of each respective country,” an IRB statement said.
The IRB has made it a compulsory requirement for any player participating at its tournaments to complete the e-learning programme.
“However the IRB encourages all Unions to use this tool at every level of the game.”
