All Island Senior Citizens Scrabble Tournament
View(s):The annual All-Island Senior Citizens Scrabble Tournament, organised by the Sri Lanka Association of Senior Citizens, will take place on Sunday, October 27 at the Colombo Hilton. This event which will be held for the 13th consecutive year is open to Sri Lankans over the age of 50, who will vie for the Deshabandu Clara Motwani Cup… The Champions trophy.
Registration will commence from 7.30 – 8.30 a.m. and games will begin at 9 a.m.
Play will be in two categories. The “A” category will be for the Championship, and words used will be from Collins Scrabble Words 2007, the internationally accepted dictionary now in use. The “B” category will be for those who prefer the old style of play, using traditional words from the Oxford English Dictionary.
Prizes will be awarded for the highest game score and the highest word score. In addition, there will be spot prizes for each of the games that will be played. Entry forms are available from Mrs. Indrani Atukorale, 102/1, Dharmapala Mawatha, Colomo 7 (Phone: 2696993) or Mrs. Delryn Wijesinghe, 27, Ridgeway Place Bambalapitiya (Phone 2587094).
The entry fee is Rs. 750/- and closing date for entries is October 20. Late entries will be charged an extra Rs. 50/- No entries will be accepted on the date of the tournament.
