Shanker Prabad boots four for Commercial Credit

Centre forward Shanker Prabad was in cracking form for Commercial Credit when he booted four goals in their 7-0 win over Courtaulds in a Mercantile Soccer fixture conducted by the Mercantile Football League at the City Legue ground recently. At the short whistle Commercial Credit were in the led with three goals to nil.

In the 15th minute of the game, Prabad put Commercial Credit one up and in the 22nd minute right extreme W.M.H. Chinthaka made it 2-0.

Three minutes later, Commercial Credit made it 3-0 when a penalty was converted and at the break, the score was 3-0.

After the change of ends, Commercial Credit continued to pile on the agony when Prabad made it 4-0 in the 40th minute an in the 55th minute mid field K.K.G. Jayatilake got his boot working to make the score 5-0.

The final goals were booted in the 56th and 58th minutes by Shanker Prabad to make the final score 7-0 and victory for Commercial Credit.

The game was refereed by Y.N. Rajiv while A.G. Mendis was the match co-ordinator and Anton Atapattu was the match commissioner.
Smart Shirts down Amana Bank 4-2.

Smart Shirts downed Amana Bank 4-2 in their Mercantile Football fixture at the City League grounds. At half time the tally was 2-1 in favour of Smarth Shirts.

In the 15th minute of play, right extreme W.B.M. Fernando got the game moving when he fired the opener to put Smart Shirts one up and five minutes later, centre forward L.S.R. Perera made it 2-0.

Three minutes later, Amana Bank pulled the lead back when right extreme S. Fahim scored.

After the turnaround, Amana Bank equalized in the 40th minute through Rimzan when he made no mistake with a penalty.

However, in the 50th minute L.S.R. Perera put Smart Shirts back into the lead (3-1) and in the 59th minute, mid field H. Maduranga made the final score 4-1 to give Smart Shirts the victory.

The game was controlled by Gayan Kelum, while the co-ordinator was A.G. Mendis and match commissioner was Anton Atapattu.
Virtusa in 3-1 win over Smart Shirts

Virtusa defeated Smart Shirts 3-1 in their Mercantile Football fixture conducted by the MFL at the City League grounds. At half time the scores were level at one all.

Centre forward T. Seneviratne opened scoring for Virtusa in the 25th minute, but three minutes later right extreme D.M.S. Fernando equalized for Smart Shirts.

After the change of ends, centre forward Seneviratne scored his second goal of the game, to make it 2-1 for Virtusa and in the 55th minute, midfielder C. Dharmartne made the final tally 3-1 in favour of Virtusa.

The game was refereed by M. Jayalath while K.A.G. Gunasena was the match co-ordinator and Anton Atapattu was the commissioner.
