HSBC this week said it would be delivering credit card statements through e-mail for its credit cardholders. Taking the lead in fostering green banking initiatives across HSBC, this new paperless service provides a highly secure, speedy, and convenient experience for customers anytime, anywhere, the bank said.

From 26 August 2013, HSBC customers can receive their HSBC Premier, HSBC Advance, Signature, Platinum and Gold Credit Card statements directly to the e-mail address registered with HSBC. The email will contain the statement in the form of a secure PDF attachment which can be viewed by using an encrypted password at the point of opening the attachment. All registered customers will receive an email confirming their registrations.

Nilantha Bastian, Head of Retail Banking HSBC Sri Lanka, said: “This initiative allows HSBC and our customers to jointly contribute to averting climate change. By introducing this form of e-statement service, we hope to meet our customers’ needs as well as support the Bank’s continued efforts to manage our environmental footprint.”

The bank said HSBC credit card customers could also benefit from the promotion that is on offer as they sign up for eStatement service during the Promotional period from 25 August to 30 November 2013. The first 1000 customers to register will each receive a free dongle and a USB drive. And, further chances of entering the grand monthly draw, where 6 Samsung Galaxy tabs and 6 ipad minis will be presented to the lucky winners during September, October and November 2013.
