Many entries for ‘EU-SWITCH Asia Greening Hotels Awards’
View(s):Applications have closed for the second ‘EU-SWITCH Asia Greening Hotels Awards – 2013’, organized by the EU sponsored “EU-SWITCH Asia Greening Sri Lanka Hotels Project” (GSLH) implemented by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.
The award scheme is designed to recognize the outstanding environmental performance and the innovative green technology solutions of the hotels registered with the project, the organizers said.
More than 40 entries have been received this year, up by almost 30 per cent over last year. The winners will be awarded trophies at a gala event scheduled to be held in Colombo during the latter part of September 2013.
The organisers said the Greening Hotels Awards serves as a yardstick for hotels to benchmark themselves against leading hospitality establishments in sustainable business practices.
Last year, the overall winner of the SME sector (with 50 or less rooms) was Siddhalepa Ayurveda Health Resort, Wadduwa while Heritance Tea Factory, Nuwara Eliya was the overall winner of the Non SME Hotel sector (with more than 50 rooms and Boutique Hotels).
