Union Bank awards Piyawara art competition winners

Union Bank conducted the first phase of the “Piyawara” art competition in Gampaha in 2012 with the objective of harnessing hidden creativity and talents of children. The art competition received an over whelming response.

Dilshan Karunanayake, Kimuthu Kulathilaka, Ashvinda Jayathilake, Movindhu Ramanayake, Methuki Sanaya, Nethmi Silva, Kavindu Mudalige and Chanuka Jayarathne.

The winners received 25,000, 15,000 and 10,000 for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places respectively for all categories. In addition, Union Bank also offered the winners schools a donation of Rs. 10,000 towards the development of the school libraries.

The awards ceremony was held on February 28, 2013 at the Union Bank Gampaha branch. The art competition was an initiative carried out through the Bank’s Piyawara Minor Savings account to create awareness and inculcate the habit of savings from a younger age.

1st place 3 – 6 years Ashvinda Jayathilake of Sumeda Vidyalaya Gampaha 1st place 6­ – 10 years Kimuthu Kulathilaka of JES Int’l Art School 1st place 11 – 15 years Nethmi Shanuki Silva of Holy Cross College Gampaha.
