The reporting season for companies listed in the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) has begun with a flurry of annual general meetings starting from around March 20.
These are companies with calendar year (January to December) financials.
Minority shareholders, in particular, would have a tough time (for those who have shares in several companies), for on March 23 there are almost 20 AGMs. All are at the same time – between 9.30 am and 11.30 am.
Many have complained in the past several years of AGMs being scheduled together, depriving them an opportunity to attend these key annual meetings.
Among the AGMs are that of Bogala Graphite Lanka, Colombo Dockyard, NDB Capital Holdings, HNB Assurance, AIA Insurance Lanka, Union Assurance, PABC, HNB, NTB, NDB, Seylan Bank, Janashakthi Insurance, Commercial Bank of Ceylon, Finlays Colombo, Kelani Valley Plantations and Sampath Bank.
A number of EGMs are also being held from around March 20, that of – People’s Leasing & Finance, People’s Finance, PABC, NTB and Galadari Hotels.
The next, much bigger, round of AGMs is in June of companies whose financial year ends on March 31.
