Hearld the New Year with popular music outfit ‘Mica’ and DJ ‘Sami’ at the Gateway Hotel Airport Garden, Seeduwa on Monday, 31 December.

‘Mica’ and DJ ‘Sami’ will be in action at the ‘Harbour Bar’ in the salubrious surrounding of the Negombo lagoon.

The New Year bash at AGH will offer loads of prizes and surprises including two return air tickets, entrance ticket draw, table draw and selecting the New Year Queen. The MC for the night will be Nicola Edirisinghe.
‘MICA’ the unplugged, popular music aggregation, who had been performing in the European circuit and have been attracting the Sri Lankan dance goers to their new sounds, will be the main attraction.

‘Mica’ is the name of the latest musical outfit to bang into the local music scene. Led by experienced musician Lakmal Fernando, popularly known as Lucky, ‘Mica’ is one of the most sought out groups in the pub style venues and for retro music.

They have performed in a number of leading hotels before they left for Europe and New Year revellers at the Gateway hotel Airport Garden are in for a rare treat. The band will dish out country and western, music of the 70’s and 80’s and popular rock songs.

Mica comprises of Lucky on lead vocals and guitar, Manjula on drums, guitar and vocals and new female singer Kalani is a versatile singer. Bassist Krishanthe Fernando, popularly known as Chris is an all rounder. He plays bass, keyboards and sings for ‘Mica Unplugged’ band.

‘We provide uncommon songs and music to the audiences, the difference is, ‘Mica’ music is filled with the real acoustic and drum sounds. We use a new instrument call ‘KAHON’ (AFRIKAN DRUM). Mica is the very first western band in Sri Lanka use KAHON’ said leader Lakmal.

‘We are catering to all types of audiences although mainly our music is enjoyed by the young adults and adults. We provide Country songs, Retro music of 70’s/80’s era, R& B, classical jazz and new hit songs from the charts too. Also we sing some alternative rock songs in our own style.’ Lakmal explained.
The band will be in action at Waters Edge on Christmas Day.
