Popular public relations and television personality Kumar de Silva turns 50 years on Thursday 20 December. Recently knighted by the Government of France in recognition of his contribution to promoting the French language and culture in Sri Lanka for more than quarter of a century, he is best known for the ‘Bonsoir’ television programme which made him a household name for many years.

‘Bonsoir is dead, but I’m currently writing the ‘Bonsoir Diaries’ which reveals all those incidents and situations and faux pas which our thousands of viewers never got to see. I’m having great fun getting it all together and the book should be out towards the middle of next year’ said Kumar
