Carly Rae Jepsen has been named the ‘Rising Star of 2012’ by Billboard magazine of the US. The 26 year old singer who was spotted by fellow Canadian artist Justin Bieber and signed with his manager Scooter Braun has had a global smash hit with her debut release “Call Me Maybe”. The song went on to top the charts in 6 countries.

Robbie Williams, Leona Lewis and the pop rock band Lawson will switch on the Christmas Lights on London’s Oxford Street tomorrow 5th November. Williams will also give a free concert near the House of Frazer. His new song ‘Candy’ comes out on November 6.

Labrinth secured his very first No:1 song on the UK singles chart with ‘Beneath Your Beautiful’ featuring Emeli Sande. It took six singles to be released from his ‘Electronic Earth’ album to get to pole position. The RnB track with a strong chamber section sold 108,000 copies. All of Labrinth’s previous releases peaked at numbers 3, 2, 4, 12 and 55. As a co song writer and producer Labrinth had succeeded in reaching No:1 with Tinie Tempah’s “Pass Out” in 2010. He had earlier appeared as a guest artist on other songs since 2008.

“Beneath Your Beautiful” is co- written by Labrinth whose real name is Tim McKenzie along with Emeli Sande and American singer, songwriter and producer Mike Posner. Labrinth and Sande performed the song live on X-Factor on 21st October which has had an impact on sales.

JLS checked into the chart with the “Hottest Girl In The World” at No: 6. The song takes the group in a new direction which has received mixed reaction from fans. As the song combines pop and new jack swing with the falsetto vocals it seems to have cost the group and may not improve any further on the chart. Unlike in the past, the last few releases from JLS have been peaking in the lower end of the top 10.

Emeli Sande is the actual artist of the week as her guest vocals on Naughty Boy’s first single release ‘Wonder’ debuted on the chart at No:10. Naughty Boy is young Shahid Khan, a drop out from the London Guildhall University to pursue a career in music. He has previously co-written top 10 hits for Chipmunk and Wiley. The debut hit ‘Wonder’ is taken from Naughty Boy’s album ‘Hotel Cabana’.
