Bharti Airtel, a leading global telecommunications company with operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa, this week announced that in the speed test results of the periodical survey conducted by Telecommunication Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRC) on August 20, Airtel Lanka was recognized as the leader in the category of 3G Mobile Broadband.

This survey is regularly conducted by TRC and is a detailed analysis that compares the performance of all operators in Sri Lanka across several categories.

The news, according to Airtel, comes hot on the heels of the company completing a massive network upgrade project involving the installation of upgraded equipment at sites across Colombo, Greater Colombo and islandwide which would see Airtel Lanka increasing its 2G and 3 G towers across the island thus continuing to maintain quality through its country wide coverage. The project, which began in mid-September of last year, is part of a national network improvement initiative which has enabled Airtel to secure the top spot in the speed test results conducted by the TRC on all mobile broadband providers in Sri Lanka.
