Night of the models
View(s):After weeks of intense practice, the grand finale of Mister Sri Lanka for Mister International and Best Female Model for Supermodel International was held on June 17 at the Galadari Hotel, with Dimithri Dolappilla and Iresha Asanki bagging the coveted titles.
Iresha also won the title of Miss Photogenic and Miss Body Beautiful and Dimithri was adjudged Mister Catwalk. Other mini title holders were Sameera Weerasinghe who won Mister Photogenic and was chosen 2nd Runner up in the Mister Sri Lanka for Mister International, Vimukthi Lakmal who was Mister Physique, Tristine Fernando who was Miss Personality and also the 2nd Runner up for Female Supermodel, Bryan Livera, Mister Personality and 1st Runner up, Mister Sri Lanka, and Charitha Waidyasiri, Miss Catwalk and 1st Runner up for Best Female Model.
An additional mini title was held where all the contestants were given the same pair of sunglasses and had to show their talent in displaying it best. Nicola Dabrera and Bryan Livera won this round, which was judged by Stasha and Lakshan of Wickramarachi Opticians, one of the show’s sponsors.
The show also had a feast of fashion on the ramp – Beach Wear by Arugambay, Casual Wear sponsored by APS Knitters (Pvt) Ltd, creations by Brian Kerkoven for the ladies and T shirts for the men by Kamil Hewavitharana, with APS fabric. The final glamour segment was Evening Wear, with the contestants taking the ramp in suits and shirts by Pettah Tailors and the ladies in black evening dresses designed by Brian Kerkoven.
The crowd was kept entertained from the opening dance act by Crystals, the Rafella Fernando Fashion show, the De Lanerolle Brothers and Eric Suriyasena’s elegant saree fashions. Joanna Adams and Sunesh Rodrigo compered the evening. The sets for the show were created by Roshan and Rayush Wijeratne of Event Productions (Pvt) Ltd.
The two winners will represent Sri Lanka at the international pageants in Thailand. They received airline tickets to Bangkok courtesy BOC Travels, a valuable Canon Ixus digital camera each from Canon Metropolitan, Apple Ipod touch 8gb courtesy BT Options as well as other gifts.
