Navaratne feeling the heat while Ruchiranga is toppled

The battle is hotting up. Thurstanite Supun Navaratne, who was comfortable where he was perched for the last two weeks, is now feeling the heat.

At the end of count No 7 of the Bata-the Sunday Times Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Contest, Navaratne is in the lead still, but, Royalist Ramith Rambukwella has moved into spot two which is only 662 votes behind the leader. At the end of this count, Navaratne has totaled 2846 votes while Rambukwella signed off with 2184 votes against his name.

In the Emerging category, Royal Panadura’s Kavindu Ashan Perera had pulled the rug off his team mate to clinch the first position polling 369 votes against last week’s leader Charitha Ruchiranga who now has 259 votes against his name. In the International Schools’ contest Gavitha Wickremasinghe from Lyceum Wattala has moved into the three figure mark and has finished up at 103 votes while Mohammed Azher Samsoodeen of Leighton Park International has ended the count at 92 votes.
