Funday Times - A Poem for the week

Chess
By Dhanushka De Alwis (12 years), S. Thomas' College, Mt. Lavinia

Black squares, white squares, on a board,
It's a game that we play, when we get bored,
Black pieces, white pieces, all in a row,
Knocking each other, with a terrific blow.

The Castle goes straight, knocking everyone on its line,
But the Knight is dangerous, for it jumps from line to line.
The Bishop is cunning cause it cuts across,
And the pawn becomes powerful, when it gets across.

When it comes to fighting, the Queen is the best,
While the king is moving slowly to win this test.
When the game is over, all the pieces are in a mess,
And that is the beauty of the game 'Chess'.
