IIHE provide more opportunities to Sri Lankans at University of Wales to embark on higher education

The University of Wales is an old established (1879) Federal University with Several Colleges, situated approximately 150 miles from London. It is a major overseas Operator with representations in over 40 countries, with a student population of around 50,000. The Chancellor of the University is Prince Charles..

The University is research oriented and works with many Corporate in developing the research content. It has over the decades put in place a world class faculty and other physical facilities needed to be engaged in research functions.

The Pro Vice Chancellor of the University Prof. Nigel Palastanga an accomplished inventor with about 100 patents to his credit including a heart valve, used to alleviate the suffering of persons with coronary deficiencies.


The norms of quality assurance are of a very high standard, and the standards of University of Wales are imposed on the external examinations and the Overseas

Representative Institutions. The standards of these Institutions are continuously reviewed by a team comprising of internal and external members, thus ensuring that such representatives are delivering quality products and services in their respective countries, to students and other stakeholders.

Students being educated in Sri Lanka for a University of Wales qualification is assured of an identical standard and qualification, for a much lesser expense, than in UK. Generally, the annual cost of a degree program is around UK Pounds 7000 plus accommodation and food expenses.

It is a strict requirement of the University that the number of student registrations

are in keeping with the facilities available, such as library, faculty and classrooms. It is in this respect that the Pro Vice Chancellor of the University of Wales, expressed his confidence, that the local representative, Imperial Institute of Higher Education has taken a progressive decision to move into a new spacious premises, which will enable them to provide more opportunities to Sri Lankans to embark on higher education.

Prof. Nigel Palastanga, Pro Vice Chancellor of the University of Wales is in Sri Lanka, as the representative of that University to present the awards at the Convocation ceremony, for the newly qualified MBA and BSC graduates. These graduates, if they wished, could have travelled to Cardiff for the Convocation.
