Funday Times - A Poem for the week

The spider's web
By Melissa Pereira (14 years), St. Lawrence's School, Colombo 6

Spider, spider, weave your web,
All through night and day.
Don't give up little spider,
Make it strong in every way.

Spider, spider, weave your web,
Think not of the burning sun;
Hurry, hurry little spider,
Soon your work will be done.

Here's the wind! Once, twice!
O spider where are you?
Come quick your web is broken,
O spider what will you do?

Spider, spider don't lose heart,
We'll make this web anew:
A bigger, better, stronger web,
To catch a fly or two.

When the day's work is done:
And the moon comes shining through –
Spider, spider you may rest,
Proud, happy and content too.
