Funday Times - A Poem for the week

My friend the moon
By Leandra Joseph (12 years), Holy Family Convent, Colombo 4

When the day is finally over
And the yellow sun is in bed,
Out pops the soft round ball
Right over my sleepy head

There shines the friendly moon
Guarding me in my gloom
Telling me what he has done
To scare away the freaky sun

I whisper to him all my fears
He tells me that he hates his ears
Sometimes half and sometimes full
He dresses up and ties his shoes

And oh the day has come so soon
It's time to say goodbye to you
You are the best friend of all
Who's kinda big and kinda small.
