From our Kid Reporter Bhagya Pandithakoralege, St. Bridget's Convent Kid Reporter K-02

The 'Festival of Colours' art competition was held on June 18 and 19, 2009. It was organized by the Young Learners Centre to mark the 60th Anniversary of the British Council.

There were three age groups i.e., 5 – 8, 9 – 11 and 12 – 15 years. The theme was 'People, Places or Events related to Sri Lanka or UK. There were about 225 participants on both days.

The chief guest was the renowned artist Madam Sybil Wettasinghe. She gave us the guidance to draw. Pastels and drawing paper were provided by the British Council.

I was also one of the participants and I won the second prize of the 9 – 11 category.

The chief guest for the Prize Giving was the National Director for the British Council, Madam Gill Westaway. In her speech she thanked all who participated and gave away the prizes.

The winners received certificates, Homerun Pas colour packs, British Council memberships and cash prizes. Finally they took a group photo and that ended a great event.
