About 90 unemployed youths of all three communities from Trincomalee, Batticaloa and Ampara in the eastern province, have been selected to undergo a 3-month Certificate Training Course Programme on hotel-related subjects.

The training programme has been formulated under the auspices of the Eastern Provincial Council (EPC) and undertaken under the Asian Development Bank (ADB)- funded North East Coastal Community Development (NECCDEP) Project and North East Community Restoration Development (NECORD) Project.

Initially the selected youths would undergo a rapid English Language Training Course and thereafter they would undergo craft courses in Cookery, Housekeeping and Restaurant and Bar. The Management Development and Training Department (MTDP) of the EPC would be conducting the training programme in association with the Satellite Hotel School in Anuradhapura which is under the Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management.
