Singapore Informatics will be celebrating its 15th year anniversary in a grand way this year, where many events have been organized to coincide with its anniversary celebrations, which will culminate with the institute's grand dinner dance.

Singapore Informatics has been one of the very few educational institutes to be successful in introducing quality educational programmes to suit the changes in the industry both locally as well as internationally. The Sunday Times spoke to Mr. Mahen Jayalath, Director and Mr. Lakshitha Reginald SNR Manager - Business Development of Singapore Informatics to find out more about their latest achievements and future plans.

"Within the past 15 years of our operations we have been successful in producing over 500 B.Sc. graduates from the University of Portsmouth in addition to almost 5,000 Diploma and Advanced Diploma holders which has been one of our most significant achievements. In addition to this we have always kept ourselves inline with the latest technological advancements; Singapore Informatics has pioneered many innovative educational solutions to the market.

One such achievement introduced by us was the method of e-learning to Sri Lanka in the year 2002, and in the year 2003 we were also one of the very first private educational institutions in Sri Lanka to introduce a qualification which leads up to a degree in Engineering. In the year 2006, we were also the first private educational institution to come up with the innovative concept of a Foundation Examination into our syllabus.

This enables students who do not have Advanced Level qualifications a chance to be eligible to qualify to sit for a degree of their choice. This has also provided a pathway for students to directly sit for a degree programme after completion of their Ordinary Levels. We were also the first to introduce a qualification which leads up to a degree in the area of Network Science Cyber Security in the year 2007", says Mr. Jayalath.

As a responsible Tertiary Education Institution, the institute always has long term planning. The educational programmes that will be introduced by the institute are always based on the current market demands. Due to this reason all the programmes that have to date been introduced by Singapore Informatics have always made a positive impact on the educational industry. Over the last five years the pioneering efforts made by Singapore Informatics are today bearing fruits and are being adopted by many other educational institutions in Sri Lanka.

Speaking about their future plans, Mr. Reginald said, "In the next five years there will be more pioneering efforts made by Singapore Informatics. We will specially be concentrating in the areas of Renewable Energy Engineering, Gaming and Animation Technology, Cyber Psychology and Robotics."

In addition to introducing these new programmes Singapore Informatics will also be directing their attention towards the corporate sectors, where many new programmes have already been introduced with regards to the professional certifications. In this regard in the year 2003 the Certified Ethical Hacker programme was introduced for which there is currently a huge demand.

The institute is also functioning as a global partner alongside the Project Management Institute, for which it is currently the pioneering leader with regards to Project Management training in Sri Lanka, whereby currently hundreds of individuals have been trained by the institute. Every month a Project Management programme is conducted to meet the high demand. Singapore Informatics is also the authorized centre for Oracle, where extensive training programmes have been conducted for the professionals.

"Over the past ten years the institute has pasted many milestones with regards to corporate training. In the next years to come we will be looking at introducing more and more skilled development programmes specially with regards to Risk Management and Programme Management. In addition to this we are also focusing on launching a few short term programmes", further stated Mr. Reginald.
The institute as always will be heavily involved with its CSR activities throughout the year, which will continue alongside its anniversary celebrations. Backed by 15 years of experience Singapore Informatics is set to create more innovative educational solutions that will raise the bar in the education industry.
