Funday Times - A Poem for the week

Avurudu
By Ayodhya Perera (13 years), Bishop's College

A fusion of colours splashed everywhere,
Blending with laughter and joy,
Out in the distance somewhere,
The cuckoo bird bursts into song.

Mother Nature adorns herself,
Gifting flowers and fruit to all.
The gentle breeze brings the welcome sounds,
Of raban beats with the Avurudu call.

Traditions of a proud nation,
Come alive with Avurudu cheer,
Bringing a message to young and old,
Of peace and unity and life without fear.
