According to Prema Pinnawela, Secretary General of the Athletic Association of Sri Lanka the participants will be mainly from the under 12, 13, 14, 16 and 18 age groups and they will be mainly from schools in the island.

There will also be competitions for men and women in the under 20 age category as well.
Schools from Vavunia, Trincomalee, Ampara, Jaffna and Batticaloa are expected to be in the fray. Last year a few schools from these areas participated and they had shown exceptional talent, pointed out Prema Pinnawela.
