Bates installs a powerful team

Celebrating its 16th anniversary in its new ‘white house’ office, Bates has installed a powerful creative and management team to offer its clients superior capability in meeting the challenges of the market downturn.

A statement said that appointing an all female trio of COOs (Chief Operating Officers) to its three business units and a star cast of Creative Directors, the agency has sought to address market challenges through a team that can create the much needed breakthroughs for its clients.

The new team

“The challenges of the market downturn are a great opportunity for us to demonstrate our superior strategic and creative capability to help clients fight demand declines and fierce competition and boost their sales, customer base and footfall,” said Bates Chairman and CEO Nimal Gunewardena, adding that “Our investment in a top notch creative team and a team of COOs with excellent experience and feminine tenacity will help to leverage our superior professional prowess for our clients and deliver best value on their marketing investment.”

Bates 141 COO Sheron Jayasundera has wide experience in all aspects of advertising having spent 18 years in the industry and 12 years with Bates. Former broadcaster and presenter Rezani Aziz leverages valuable media coverage for clients as COO of the agency’s PR arm, which is affiliated to the top global network Burson-Marsteller. Experienced statistician and media planner Namalie Herath plays a valuable role as COO of Mediaedge in working to consolidate the strengths of GroupM’s media buying to deliver unmatched media deals for clients.

“The all star creative team comprises ECD Digby Hill who has been an institution at Bates, Angelo Jayasinghe who lifted the fortunes of his previous agency with his brilliant creative campaigns for Hutch, Lanka Bell, Paracetol, Asian Alliance and many others, Gratiaen Prize winning writer Shehan Karunatilaka who adds this latest prize to his award-winning creative work, and Bates’ star of the 2008 Chillies success Harendra Pushpakumara, supported by top designer-illustrator Kumara Perera and seasoned Sinhala copywriter Vajira Casturi,” the statement said.
