Many changes at Central Bank

A third position of Deputy Governor has been created at the Central Bank (CB) in addition to the current two positions while a series of changes in the hierarchy are taking place in the next few months, CB sources said.

Accordingly, Dr Ranee Jayamaha retires as Deputy Governor in May and will be replaced by Assistant Governor Dr Uthum Herat.

Senior-most Deputy Governor W.A. Wijewardene retires in July and that position will be filled by Assistant Governor Dr D.S. Wijesinghe while Assistant Governor Rose Cooray who was this month appointed to the new post of Deputy Governor (the third such position in the Bank) is also retiring in around May and would be replaced by Assistant Governor K.G.D. Dheerasinghe (currently serving as Sri Lanka's Alternate Director at the IMF).
