Basnahira North fight back - Inter-Provincial Cricket

Basnahira North fought back after conceding a first inning lead to Basnahira South to have them struggling on 124 for 6 at the end of the third days play in their Inter-Provincial cricket encounter played at the R. Premadasa Stadium yesterday.

Basnahira North resuming on their overnight score of 142 for 2 underwent an early setback with the dismissal of man in form Angelo Mathews in the first ball of the day.

Apart from the 117 runs partnership put on by Ian Daniel and Angelo Mathews for the third wicket there were two other partnership first of 50 runs for the fourth wicket between skipper Thilina Kandamby and Ian Daniel and the other of 62 runs for the sixth wicket between Kaushal Silva and Muthumudalige Pushpakumara.

Match poised for an interesting finish. The match between Wayamba and Ruhuna being played at Rangiri Dambulla Satdium is poised for an interesting finish when play stopped on day three.

Ruhuna chasing 297 for victory ended the day on 118 for 4 still needing a further 179 runs with six wickets in hand.

Earlier in the day Wayamba resuming on their overnight score of 37 for 1 were bowled out for 236 with right arm pacie Tharanga Lakshitha doing the damage taking 7 for 59.
