Schools close for national programme

A number of Colombo schools will be closed for up to two weeks for Deyata Kirula 2009. Deyata Kirula is an annual educational programme that showcases the country’s development and its recent achievements in various fields, as well as providing a glimpse of nation-building plans for the future.

President’s College in Rajagiriya and Asoka College in Colombo 10 will be closed from January 26 to February 10. Sangamitta Vidyalaya; Gothami Balika Vidyalaya; Thurstan College, Clifton Girls’ School; Devi Balika Vidyalaya; Ratnavali Balika Vidyalaya; Bandaranaike College; Ananda Balika Vidyalaya; Colombo and Bhadrawathie Vidyalaya will be closed from January 27 to February 10.

Baron Jayatilake Vidyalaya in Maligawatte; T. B. Jayah Vidyalaya; Holy Rosary Vidyalaya (Sinhala); Holy Rosary Vidyalaya (Tamil), and Al-Akbar Vidyalaya in Colombo 2 will be closed from January 28 to February 4.

Mahanama College, in Colombo 3, will be closed from January 23 to February 5.
