A healthy breakfast

Children who skip breakfast will be more sluggish, less attentive and have less energy to carry out their morning tasks, studies say. Eating breakfast has also been identified as one of the healthy habits that promote long life and good health. So we know that breakfast plays a major role in the life of a healthy kid.
The morning hour can be called the rush hour, imagine the rush at your home during the morning hours before leaving for school. The only excuse would be 'I have no time to have breakfast!'

In the hustle and bustle of children getting ready for school, parents for work, few of us remember or want to have our breakfast, while most kids leave for school having only a glass of milk or tea. But it is important to eat in the morning either before going to school or on the way to school.

Do you know that kids who eat breakfast do better in school, are more likely to participate in physical activities, and tend to eat healthier overall? In another research it was proved that children who consistently eat breakfast, test higher in most academic areas and led to better class attendance.

Some children have so many excuses to avoid meal time and go to school with an empty stomach, either it would be lack of time, absence of hunger, and distaste for breakfast foods. Some kids skip breakfast because they sleep too late or because they think it's a way to stay thin.

If we skip breakfast, we are likely to become tired when our brains and bodies run low on fuel. Eating a good breakfast sets the tone for the rest of the day. Some teenagers choose to skip breakfast as a means to lose weight. However, skipping breakfast actually makes people more likely to have snacks throughout the day and eat a larger meal at lunchtime and dinnertime. As a result, skipping breakfast may also cause weight gain by making them eat excessively, later in the day.

Try to eat a variety of foods, including; grains like rice, green gram, grams, sweet potatoes, bread, cereal, meats, sausages, fruits and vegetables, milk, cheese and yogurt, eggs, toast, waffles and pancakes, cereal with milk, yogurt with fruits, fruit juices or even sandwiches are ideal breakfast ideas. Milk is a good
beverage to include with breakfast.

If you are not used to having breakfast it's important to start immediately. First, drink a glass of liquid such as water or orange juice. This will help increase your appetite. Then begin having a small amount early in the morning and have the rest during the school interval. As you get used to eating breakfast, slowly increase the amount of food.

Make sure to tell your parents that having a healthy breakfast is not important only to kids but also grownups and encourage them to have a morning meal too.

It's important to remember that 'Breakfast is the most important meal of the day!' and that 'any breakfast is better than no breakfast!'
