Royal Colombo Title event in full swing - Favourites Oblige

Eight of the best were chosen after two stroke play competitions were held last week. The favourites obliged Mithun Perera, Stewart Ritchie, Pferoze Billimoria and Rusi Captain are there to battle it out with Sheron Fernando lurking around ready to create massive upset.

The quarter finals will take off on Saturday morning. Mithun Perera meeting Sanjay Vairavanatha, Ritchie meeting Billimoria and Captain playing Mihindu Chandrasoma. Excellent golf for enthusiasts to follow. Silver Classic Here again eight have been chosen with Greig Ritchie and Saakya Ukwatte both youngsters running favourites. All 4 matches will take off on Saturday with the finish scheduled for Sunday lunch time.

Bronze Classic

This is when the phonies meet - those who have not caught the attention of the Handicap Committee.
The result is unpredictable except that several bets are on Trevine Fernandopulle. These matches will be played on Saturday too with the finals set for the afternoon. Elaborate plans have been set up for a glittering Award Ceremony followed by a Banquet. Ferrin the "merryman" Careem will play host. Excellent fare for golf enthusiasts and much pleasure for those who are possibly fond of the pleasures of the 19th.
