Joes - the best cagers
St. Joseph's College Colombo 10 beat St. Benedict's College, Kotahena by 58 to 50 in a closely contested Sri Lanka Schools All Island 'A' Division Under-17 Basketball final, played at Moratuwa on 26th August 2008.

The Joes coached by Roshan Randima and assisted by Shane Daniels, qualified from the Colombo North Zone, having beaten Colombo International School, De La Salle College Mutwal and D.S. Senanayake College Colombo 8 and emerged Runners-Up of the Zone after being beaten by Bens by a narrow margin in the Zonal Final played at Kotahena.

In the All Island Tournament, they beat Royal College by 59 to 25, St. Joseph's College Endermulla by 90 to 41 and Trinity College Kandy by 76 to 58 in their preliminary round matches and thereafter beat Lyceum International School by 88 to 57 in the Quarter Finals to enter into the Semi-Finals where they beat St. Sebastian's College Moratuwa by 96 to 59.

The Josephian Captain Shehan Wasana Perera was named Player of the Tournament and Praneeth Udumalagala the Best Defensive Player. Yohan Keyser also had a very good Tournament along with Sheran Nanayakkara, Shane Seneviratne, Himath Silva and other team members making useful contributions.
