‘Siddhartha’ on stage

Rathnasiri Paranavithana's latest theatrical production 'Siddhartha' story related to the time of Lord Buddha will be staged on August 27 at Tower Hall, Maradana.

A production by Gamini Malawannagamage, the play highlights the intellectual development of Siddhartha, who introduced the ultimate truth. In the cast, Janaka Perera, a graduate in dancing plays the lead role of Siddhartha while Nishadhi Rathnawali, a lecturer in dancing plays Yashodhara. Other roles are played by Warnatunga Senanayake, Pubudini Samarawickrema, Chandrasoma Binduhewa, Rohitha Karunaratne, Wimal Jayakody and Ajith Adikara.

Music directed by the veteran musician Lionel Algama Nishadhi Rathnawali handles the choreography. Jayantha Ratnayake handled the stage setting and Upali Weerasinghe did the lighting.
