Broadcast Sri Lanka 2008' on tomorrow's challenges to TV

Run up to 'Sumathi Tele Award', two day event 'Broadcast Sri Lanka Conference and Exhibition' will be held on June 12 and 13 at the BMICH. The conference organized by MassCom (Pvt) Ltd to discuss the challenges that are being faced by the broadcasters of Sri Lanka will be an important forum for the production houses, programme producers, directors, technicians, TV equipment suppliers, editors and even actors and actresses.

Veteran filmmaker Dr. D. B. Nihalsinghe will chair the conference, the key note address is to be delivered by Rukmin Wijemanne, who serves as Head of Studio Practices of the Asian Broadcast Union in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He has also pioneered television engineering in Sri Lanka as DDG at Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation. Among the other participants are Rupavahini Engineering Division Director Rohan Perera, Sirasa Engineering Division Director Tharaka Mohotty, Swarnavahini IT and Post production head Ratna Kariyawasam, Rosmund Senaratne, Dr. Hans Wijesuriya and TRC Director H. Ranathunga.

Among the main subjects to be discussed are what the future of Sri Lankan broadcasting technology would be with the development in the digital technology and other latest technological developments in the world.
