Air attack in Kandy  
The air pollution levels in Kandy are three times higher than in Colombo, and this is leading to an increase in the number of persons suffering from respiratory diseases, according to experts.
 
KMC losing millions from water pilfering: Engineer
More than 35 per cent of the water supplied by the Kandy Municipal Council (KMC) to residents in the area is being pilfered thus denying the municipality millions of rupees in revenue, the KMC Water Supplies Division Chief Engineer said.
 
X-ray machine disabled
The X-ray machine meant for disabled patients at the Kandy General Hospital has been out of order for the past six months causing inconvenience to hundreds of patients who needed to undergo tests using this machine. Repairs to the machine which is valued at Rs 12 million will cost around Rs 1.5 million, hospital sources said.
