Sri Lanka’s entertainment industry is stepping into a new era with the launch of ShowLab Studio, the country’s first dedicated previsualisation and show programming facility. Designed to bring global production standards to local stages, the studio promises to transform the way concerts, events and large-scale productions are planned and delivered.

Built to provide what its creators describe as a “next-level system upgrade,” ShowLab Studio addresses a long-standing gap in Sri Lanka’s showbiz landscape. Developed in collaboration with Bling Productions, Eyeon Digital Motion and D4, the facility introduces a new way of creating live experiences, where entire productions can be designed, programmed and refined before they even enter a venue.

Equipped with technology used in international touring shows, Broadway and West End productions, as well as arena-scale events, the studio places Sri Lanka’s live entertainment industry closer to global standards and gives local event organisers access to tools that were previously available only overseas.

The studio brings together three key areas of expertise. Marlon Jesudason, founder of Bling Productions and co-founder of Eyeon Digital Motion, has played a major role in shaping modern event production in Sri Lanka through creative direction and show design. Obed Kushan, Lead Visual Engineer at Eyeon Digital Motion, contributes advanced capabilities in LED systems, projection mapping and visual arts, enabling highly accurate visual simulations. Dhanushka Aruna of D4 adds deep technical expertise in lighting and effects, show control systems and live event engineering, forming the technical backbone of the studio’s operations.

Together, their combined experience allows ShowLab Studio to offer a complete end-to-end solution for planning and producing world-class live events.

The facility also addresses long-standing industry challenges, including limited rehearsal time, venue constraints and technical uncertainty. By enabling teams to build and test every element of a production in a controlled environment — from lighting and visuals to audio synchronisation and show control — the studio improves efficiency while reducing cost and risk.

ShowLab Studio features industry-standard tools used in global touring and theatre productions, including grandMA3 lighting consoles, a real-time 3D visualiser, LED and projection simulation, and advanced timecode systems with MTC and LTC integration. These technologies allow lighting designers, show producers and directors to programme, simulate and synchronise productions with exceptional accuracy before execution.

By reducing guesswork, saving time and improving safety, the studio helps ensure smoother and more professional productions. Bringing technology, creativity and technical expertise together in one space, ShowLab Studio aims to support concerts, theatre productions, corporate events and international touring shows.

With its launch, Sri Lanka’s entertainment sector moves closer to global industry standards, opening new opportunities for local talent and positioning the country as a more attractive destination for world-class productions.
