Gamer.LK hosts new style ‘Geek Avurudu 2026’
View(s):Gamer.LK, Sri Lanka’s leading digital entertainment and pop culture brand, successfully hosted Geek Avurudu 2026 powered by Nestomalt today at Trace Expert City, drawing a vibrant crowd for a unique celebration that brought together the traditions of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year with the creativity and vibrancy of modern geek culture.
Over 100 cosplayers took part in the Cosplay Kumara and Kumari competition, which served as a central highlight of the event. Participants showcased creative interpretations ranging from superheroes in sarongs to anime characters reimagined in traditional Avurudu attire, blending cultural identity with fandom expression. The competition drew strong crowd engagement and showcased the growing creativity within Sri Lanka’s cosplay community.
In addition to the cosplay competition, the event featured a wide range of Avurudu games for cosplayers to take part in, including creative and crowd-favourite adaptations such as Mutti Smash, Banis Wars, Infinity Kamba War, Lord of the Bothal, Goni and Furious, Game of Putu, Kotta Kombat, Maggi Pass and Pop the Balloon. From fast-paced challenges to lighthearted, laugh-out-loud moments, these games kept participants and spectators engaged throughout the day, bringing a
playful and high-energy spirit to the celebration.
Complementing the action, the event also featured vibrant food stalls and immersive photo opportunities, creating a lively festival atmosphere where attendees could relax, connect and capture memorable moments throughout the day.
Known for crafting immersive experiences that connect communities and fandoms such as the Colombo Comic Expo, Gamer.LK brought Geek Avurudu to life as a standalone event for the very first time, marking a new evolution in community-driven celebrations that blend heritage with contemporary culture.
