Warning against renting homes to ‘illegal’ foreigners

The Department of Immigration and Emigration (DIE) has warned owners of homes and apartments which house foreigners deemed ‘illegal’ by violating visa conditions, saying it a violation of national security.

On Wednesday 120 foreigners including Chinese and Vietnamese nationals were arrested for overstaying their visa periods and allegedly involved in  IT fraud.

In a public notice on Friday aimed at house/apartment owners, the DIE said “… you are hereby expressly advised not to commit any act since aiding, abetting, harbouring, accommodating or employees such persons is a serious offence punishable under the Immigrants and Emigrants Act”.
