Warning against renting homes to ‘illegal’ foreigners
View(s):The Department of Immigration and Emigration (DIE) has warned owners of homes and apartments which house foreigners deemed ‘illegal’ by violating visa conditions, saying it a violation of national security.
On Wednesday 120 foreigners including Chinese and Vietnamese nationals were arrested for overstaying their visa periods and allegedly involved in IT fraud.
In a public notice on Friday aimed at house/apartment owners, the DIE said “… you are hereby expressly advised not to commit any act since aiding, abetting, harbouring, accommodating or employees such persons is a serious offence punishable under the Immigrants and Emigrants Act”.
