Prepare for an extraordinary evening of music and inspiration as acclaimed singer and music producer Derrick Junkeer renowned for his captivating velvet voice, takes the stage in support of a truly meaningful cause – to highlight the abilities of gifted blind young musicians, providing them with a platform to shine and gain the recognition they truly deserve.
In what promises to be a heart‑touching performance, Derrick who is based in Australia will perform alongside the visually impaired band, Bright Light sending a powerful message that in music, there are no disabilities, only talent, passion and determination.
The show is on Saturday, April 4, at 5.30 p.m. at the MJF Centre Auditorium, Moratuwa.
The visually impaired students are from Riversheen School of Music and are trained by well-known musician Melantha Perera. ‘A Concert Beyond Vision’, celebrates courage, unity and the boundless power of music to break barriers, says Melantha, adding that he was speechless when Derrick came up with this idea. The students learn online as some are living far away and this opportunity to back an international artist, is truly noteworthy.
