Lyceum International School, Nugegoda proudly celebrated a notable national achievement when Hansadie Akuratiya, an Arena Candidate Master, emerged the Under-14 Girls’ champion at the Sri Lanka National Youth Chess Super League 2026.
Displaying exceptional strategic thinking, focus, and consistency, Hansadie delivered a commanding performance to secure the championship title in her category. Following the achievement, Hansadie has been officially selected to represent Sri Lanka at several major international chess tournaments in 2026. She is set to compete at the World Youth Chess Championship in Italy, the Asian Youth Chess Championship in China, and the Western Asian Chess Championship in Tajikistan, marking a significant milestone in her competitive journey.
Hansadie’s success reflects her dedication and discipline, as well as Lyceum, Nugegoda’s continued commitment to nurturing excellence in both academic and extracurricular pursuits. The Sri Lanka National Youth Chess Super League 2026 was held from January 16 to 19 at the Ministry of Sports, Colombo, and brought together the country’s most talented young chess players.
