Having completed more than 15 years since the end of civil war in Sri Lanka, ‘Cyanide’ gives film goers a glimpse on the last days of one of the longest wars in region.

Set in the backdrop of Sri Lanka’s war, the story of ‘Cyanide’ revolves around a journalist who is sent to India on an assignment to report an exclusive story. Scripted and directed by Nalin Rajapaksha as his third feature direction, he is credited for two of his earlier films ‘Angara Dangara’ in 2011 and ‘Rainbow’ in 2015.

Revolving around Sahan, a defence correspondent for a national newspaper who is asked to travel to India to get some exclusive stories on war. One of his missions is to make a report on the murder of Pathmanabha, the leader of EPRLF organisation. Sahan meets Professor Vishwajith, a political expert and the journalist expects the support of the academic for his journalistic coverage.

The prof. introduces some Indian intelligence officers who provide Sahan with some exclusive information. However Sahan also comes across a member of a terrorist organisation who volunteers to provide some inside information. He also reveals a plan to abduct the leader of EPRLF Varadharaja Perumal. What would be the fate of the journalist who hunt for information? Await ‘Cyanide’.  The film was shot in and around locations in both India and Sri Lanka.

The film stars Ranish Hewage, Raja Ganeshan, Prakash Dasari, Jagath Galappaththi, Geetha Kanthi Jayakody, Christina Britto, Nelithma Rajapaksha, Asanka Dewamithra, Sandun Bandara, Alexi Fernando and Dumidu Kannangara in the main cast.

Behind the screen cinematographed by Wishwajith Karunaratne and Sai Toni, make up by Tharanga Rukmal, dress designing by Chandi Chamali, production manager is Raja Balasuriya, editor is Anura Bandara, colour grading by Ananda Bandara, lighting by Saman Kumara and art director Alexi Fernando.
