SUMITHRA PEERIS, MD (nee Wanigasekera) – It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of our mother on 14th November 2025, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada following a prolonged illness. Daughter of the late A.P. and Emmie Wanigasekera, she is survived by her brother, Deva Wanigasekera and her sister, Sriyakanthi Warusuvitharana. Mourned by her daughters, Jacintha (Alistair Ross Russell), Samantha and Vishni (the late David Fox) Peeris and her grandchildren, Finlay, Maya, Kiran, Jack and Araliya. Predeceased by her sister, Sunanda Wijeratne and her brothers, Gamini, Dalton and Anuruddha Wanigasekera and her infant grandson, Caelin Ross Russell. Physician, philanthropist and mother to all. Funeral took place in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. STM 303151
