Await Dimitri’s celebratory show
View(s):On August 24 at 7 p.m., the Bishop’s College auditorium will come alive with an evening of music that marks a milestone in the career of genre-spanning vocalist Dimitri Gunatilleke.
“From now on – celebrating 10 years of music and song,” will mark not only ten years of her journey as a solo artist but also 20 years in the wider performing arts industry.
The concert promises to be a diverse musical experience, featuring selections from musical theatre to pop, gospel, Sinhala classics, opera and more. It is also a tribute to the people who have contributed to her artistic journey. “I’m grateful to those who have been a part of my journey,” says Dimitri, reflecting on the mentors, teachers, directors, and guest artists who will be joining her on stage.
The Intermediate and Senior Performance Choirs of her alma mater, Bishop’s College, will also be performing, and Dimitri will, for the first time, be joined on stage by her sister. “That will be one of the many special moments at the show,” she says.
She is also using the event to helping children in need. Proceeds from the show will support a childcare facility for differently abled children between the ages of 4-16.
