Maliyadeva College secure historic 10th straight Schools Karate title
View(s):The junior karate team from Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala achieved a historic milestone, winning the All-Island Boys’ Championship for the tenth consecutive year at the Sri Lanka Schools Junior Karate Championship 2025.
The annual tournament, organised by the Sri Lanka Schools Karate-Do Federation with the approval of the Ministry of Education, was held at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo recently. Maliyadeva College’s continued dominance in the sport was praised by the school’s principal, W.M.C.K. Mahamithawa.
He extended special recognition to the team’s long-serving coach, Padma Sri Manjula, for his pivotal role in this decade of success. “We highly appreciate the special talent and dedication of Coach Manjula. He has helped us produce many national and international level players, and his exceptional skill and commitment have been crucial in winning this championship for the tenth consecutive time,” stated Principal Mahamithawa.
