Art inspired by cinematic stillness
View(s):Blending his love of art house cinema and philosophy, Rajitha Rupasinghe presents ‘Still, the Moving Image’ – a debut solo exhibition of paintings inspired by moments of cinematic stillness.
Referencing directors such as Tarantino, Bergman and Nolan, the works reimagine silent gazes, frozen frames and long takes, capturing the quiet power that lingers when motion pauses.
Rajitha is an architect, artist and researcher whose practice explores the intersections of space, memory and identity. In this collection, his passion for cinema meets his eye for composition and the poetics of space.
Still, the Moving Image will be on view from Tuesday, July 22 to 30 at Together & Co, a café run as a charitable initiative, located at 20, Shady Grove Avenue, Colombo 8 (entrance from Castle Street). The space is open Monday to Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and entry is free.
